Blue and Gold stars Chartie Curtis and Sophie Drakeford-Lewis help dominant England U21 retain Netball Europe title

Team Bath Netball’s Chartie Curtis and Sophie Drakeford-Lewis will go into Saturday’s British Fast5 All-Stars Championship as newly-crowned continental champions after helping England U21 retain the Netball Europe title.

The University of Bath students, who are supported by Santander and Whiteley Sports Scholarships respectively, were joined by alumna Paige Reed in a 12-strong Roses squad that impressed throughout the three-day competition in Antrim, Northern Ireland.

After beating the host nation 68-19 in their opening fixture, England were 90-26 victors against a Wales squad captained by new Team Bath Netball signing Leila Thomas and featuring Team Bath NPL players Georgia Jenkins and Christina Shaw.

England – coached by Sam Bird and University of Bath graduate Emily Perry – secured gold with another dominant performance against Scotland on Sunday, winning 89-31.

Curtis, Drakeford-Lewis and Thomas are all back in action this weekend as Team Bath Netball compete in the British Fast5 All-Stars Championship at the Copper Box Arena in London.

Club legend Stacey Francis is also returning to the Sitec-sponsored Blue and Gold for the tournament, taking place from 1-6pm on Saturday. Tickets are available by clicking here.
