Academy Head Coach Lois Jackson steps into Blue & Gold Superleague squad as injury replacement for Chartie Curtis

Lois Jackson says she is relishing being back in the elite Superleague environment after stepping into the Team Bath Netball squad as an injury replacement for Chartie Curtis.

England U21 international Chartie – who combines netball with studying Economics at the University of Bath, where she is supported by a Santander Sports Scholarship – suffered a knee ligament injury against Wasps in February and underwent an operation this week, cutting short an impressive debut Superleague season.

All at Team Bath wish Chartie a speedy recovery and look forward to seeing her back on court soon!

Taking Chartie’s defensive place in the squad is Team Bath Netball Academy Head Coach Jackson, who was among the replacements when Team Bath visited reigning champions Wasps last Saturday.

It was her first Superleague experience since representing Celtic Dragons during the 2017 season and marked a return to the famous Blue & Gold colours for a University of Bath graduate who progressed through the same performance pathway she now oversees as a coach.

“I am glad to be able to do my bit for the squad and it’s nice being back in that elite environment,” said Jackson, who won the Superleague with Team Bath in 2010.

“The players have been really welcoming. I have played alongside a lot of them before, albeit a long time ago, and I have a lot of close friends in there so I have settled in quickly. Obviously the training sessions are a lot more intense but I am getting up to speed and I’m excited to give everything I can for Team Bath for the remainder of the season.

“I’ve had a lot of supportive messages from the Academy girls and their parents since the news was announced and I think being back at that level can only help my work with the Academy as well. I’ll get a real insight into Superleague coaching and training that I can take away and use with the next generation of players coming through.”
