Super League and international players among talented Team Bath Netball age-group squads selected for 2022-23 season

England, Northern Ireland, Republic of Ireland and Wales senior and age-group internationals are among the 69 players selected in Team Bath Netball’s Netball Performance League (NPL) and Player Development Programme (PDP) squads for the 2022-23 season.

The U21s, looking to build on last season’s double bronze-medal success in the national league and knockout competitions, include four members of Team Bath’s Super League squad – goal-keeper Jayda Pechova, mid-courter Phoebe Maslen and attackers Sophie Kelly and Lily Jones.

Pechova made her senior England debut at this month’s Fast5 Netball World Series in New Zealand, while Kelly and Maslen are both in the Roses U19s programme. Jones – who, like Pechova and Kelly, began studying at the University of Bath this semester – is one of three English Universities players in the U21 squad, along with Layla Brough and Scarlett Creasey.

Charlotte Jennings-Evans is a member of the Welsh Feathers senior long squad, while Deni Agnew, Esme Cornelius and Alanah Heath-Drury are all part of the Wales U21 National Academy.

Shooter Sarie Watkins, who made her senior international debut for Wales against Uganda in October, is named in Team Bath’s U19 NPL squad along with England U19 player Ella Williams.

Both the U21s and U19s begin their NPL campaigns on Saturday 3rd December with matches against North East Phoenix at the David Ross Sports Village in Nottingham.

Team Bath’s U17s, who compete in the NPL South Division, have four league matches in 2023, two of which are at the Team Bath Sports Training Village – against London Pulse on 19th February and Surrey Storm on 19th March.

The squad includes Millie White and Zoe Maynard, who are Wales and Northern Ireland U17 Academy players respectively.

For the second successive season, Team Bath have also selected a U18 player development squad to provide a link between the U17 and U19 age groups. The squad, which includes Republic of Ireland U19 player Roisin O’Rourke and U19/U21 Welsh National squad player Elizabeth Hardie, will play a series of local development matches as well as fixtures at the Sports Training Village against Surrey Storm and Celtic Dragons U19.

Many of the players selected supplement their club training by attending a Team Bath Netball Athlete Development Centre in their local area, with ADCs situated in each region from Gloucester in the north to Cornwall in the south. The talent-development network is supported by Haines Watts, Team Bath’s principal partner.
