Imogen Allison co-captains Vitality Roses to Uganda series success as Team Bath Super League stars impress for England and Wales
Imogen Allison co-captained England to a Test series success and new recruit Bethan Dyke was named as player of the tournament for Wales as Team Bath Netball Super League stars impressed on international duty against Uganda.
Mid-courter Allison started at centre in the opening 60-51 victory and then impressed at wing-defence as the Vitality Roses wrapped up a series win by beating the She Cranes 53-45 in match two. The Blue & Gold star, who was co-captain with Laura Malcolm, then made a big impact off the bench as the hosts completed a whitewash with a 64-51 success on Sunday.
Team Bath’s Tash Pavelin also experience being part of an England squad for the first time, as did fellow University of Bath alumna Paige Reed.
The previous weekend had seen Uganda take on the newly-christened Welsh Feathers in two well-contested matches in Cardiff, which the tourists won 56-47 and 64-46.
Dyke, who is among a number of new faces in the Haines Watts-sponsored Team Bath Super League squad for 2023, was named as Wales’ standout player in the second fixture and for the tournament overall.
Team Bath U17 NPL shooter Sarie Watkins, who trains with the club’s Athlete Development Centre in Bristol, also made her senior international debut in the second match.
Both Dyke and Watkins have been named in the Wales squad for the Netball World Cup qualifiers, taking place at Glasgow’s Emirates Arena from 12-16 October.
