Team Bath Netball duo help England to Quad Series silver with victory in South Africa

A Roses squad featuring Team Bath Netball’s Eboni Beckford-Chambers and Kadeen Corbin helped England seal their best-ever finish in an international Quad Series with a 52-47 success in South Africa on Sunday.

That result in Johannesburg, together with a victory for Australia over New Zealand, secured second spot overall for England in the round-robin series – the last international challenge before the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games in April.

After making a positive impact from the bench against New Zealand and Australia last week, Blue and Gold captain Beckford-Chambers started on Sunday and forged an effective defensive partnership with Geva Mentor as England opened up a 30-22 lead at half-time.

After being replaced by Ama Agbeze in the third quarter, Beckford-Chambers returned at goal-defence for the final period and Corbin was also introduced at goal-shooter as England withstood a fierce South Africa fightback – spearheaded by former Team Bath player Lenize Potgieter – to take a well-earned victory.

The focus now returns to domestic competition, with the opening match of the 2018 Vitality Netball Superleague season now less than two weeks away.

Team Bath, sponsored by Sitec, visit Team Northumbria on Saturday, February 10, and face Celtic Dragons in Wales the following weekend before three home matches on successive Fridays – against Surrey Storm on February 23, UWS Sirens on March 2 and Manchester Thunder on March 9.

Tickets are now on sale for those matches and the six other games at the Team Bath Arena, which will take place after a break for the Commonwealth Games. Click here to see a full fixture list and to buy tickets.
