Final scoreline does not reflect competitive match as Team Bath Netball are defeated at Surrey Storm

Team Bath Netball were beaten 60-44 at Surrey Storm on Saturday but the final scoreline does not reflect how closely fought the Super League match was for most of the evening.

The Blue & Gold deservedly held a 15-14 advantage after the first quarter and the lead continued to change hands during the next two quarters of a competitive contest.

Excellent defending from Jayda Pechova and Tash Pavelin, who recorded five interceptions and eight deflections between them, kept the pressure on but Storm were able to edge into a 44-37 lead going into the final 15 minutes.

The hosts then pulled away in the closing stages, Storm’s Sophie Drakeford-Lewis shooting at 100 per cent against her former club, but Team Bath will once again take plenty of positives into their Easter Saturday visit to table-topping Manchester Thunder (5pm centre-pass).

Team Bath Netball is supported by Bath Building Society and Rengen Developments, who are both overall Team Bath Partners. Flyhawk supply Team Bath’s performance clothing and off-court apparel.
