Unbeaten table-toppers Manchester Thunder prove too strong for battling Blue & Gold in Bank Holiday Vitality Superleague showdown

Team Bath Netball were unable to halt Vitality Superleague leaders Manchester Thunder’s unbeaten run as they slipped to a 66-45 defeat at Belle Vue on Bank Holiday Monday.

The Haines Watts-sponsored visitors were back on court less than 72 hours after Friday’s dramatic last-gasp win over Saracens Mavericks and found themselves 20-12 down to a ruthless Thunder side after the first quarter.

Despite a host of turnovers and deflections from Phumza Maweni and Layla Guscoth, the hosts were able to stretch their lead to 37-22 at half-time. With both teams using their replacements to good effect, an evenly-matched third quarter was tied 14-14 before Thunder saw out their 16th victory of the season from as many games.

Team Bath remain in fourth place, though, after Mavericks were beaten 59-51 by Loughborough Lightning in the day’s other game. Lightning provide the opposition for Team Bath’s next match, taking place live on Sky Sports at 5.30pm on Monday 9th May.
