International Women’s Day – #IWD2022

Today is International Women’s Day. It’s all about celebrating all the great women who play, coach, officiate, volunteer or spectate at our sport in the South West and beyond.

We know the Knights and other men’s teams are also on the rise but today it’s about…..the parents who drive their daughters to training, the PE teachers go the extra mile for their students or who double as umpires, the coaches who volunteer at clubs across our region, the physios, sport scientists, video analysts, club secretaries, committee members, mini-bus drivers and much, much more. We’ve probably forgotten a few roles but you all know who you are. Big thank-you!

International Women’s Day of course crosses the boundaries beyond our sport, beyond our region and beyond our national borders.  We can celebrate together and we pause to think about and send our thoughts to women in other countries who are struggling right now who are fighting to survive, let alone having the luxury of playing sport or keeping fit.

For netball fans, take a look at this video. Made by England Netball for all of us….and all of you.
