Team Bath Netball looking for response to Storm setback as they head to Severn Stars for West Country Superleague derby

It’s derby day for Team Bath Netball this weekend as they make the short journey to the University of Gloucester Arena to face West Country rivals Severn Stars.

Both teams head into Saturday’s match (6pm centre-pass) looking to bounce back from home defeats in Round 4 of the 2022 Vitality Superleague, with the Haines Watts-sponsored Blue & Gold slipping to a 62-58 reverse against Surrey Storm and Stars going down 62-52 to early pacesetters Saracens Mavericks.

Team Bath and England star Sophie Drakeford-Lewis told BBC Radio Bristol this week that she and her team-mates are looking forward to getting back on court this weekend.

“Stars have been building over the past couple of seasons and it’s going to be great to go out there against a side which will have no fear,” she said.

“It’s been a challenging start to the season, so while we’ve not got the wins on the board like we did this time last year we’ve certainly learnt a lot and grown a lot over the past couple of weeks. Adversity brings out the best in us and hopefully that will put in good stead for the rest of the year.

“We were very disappointed with our result against Surrey Storm, the third quarter really let us down, but we have done lots of analysis over the past few days to identify the key areas in which we need to improve.”
