Serena Guthrie MBE – Team Bath and England legend recognised for services to netball in 2020 New Year’s Honours List

Team Bath Netball legend Serena Guthrie says it is “a true honour” after being awarded an MBE in the New Year’s Honours list for 2020.

Guthrie – who captained England to bronze at the 2019 Netball World Cup in Liverpool – and fellow Roses star Jo Harten have both been recognised for their services to netball.

Guthrie started her stellar netball career with Team Bath aged 16, winning three Superleague titles, and returned to the Blue & Gold in 2019 after a hugely successful spell in Australia and New Zealand.

She has also won three World Cup bronze medals and played a key role in England’s historic Commonwealth Games success in 2018.

Guthrie – who was inducted into the University of Bath Hall of Fame for Sport earlier this month – is taking a break from netball during 2020 but remains part of the Blue & Gold family as an ambassador for the club and is also working with Team Bath Netball partners Sporting Family Change.
