Plenty of positives to take from continued improvements for Team Bath Netball despite single-goal setback at Dragons
They may not have quite held on for victory at LexisNexis Dragons but Team Bath Netball will take plenty of positives into this week’s home match against NXT Gen League leaders Loughborough Lightning.
The Blue & Gold, fresh from recording their first win of the season against Birmingham Panthers, travelled to Cardiff with a depleted defence through injury and unavailability but produced an excellent team effort to overcome those challenges.
They led 17-11 after the first quarter and stretched the gap to 37-30 during a free-scoring second period, Lucy Herdman (pictured) netting several two-point Super Shots, before Dragons fought back fiercely during the third quarter and cut the visitors’ advantage to 50-48.
The final 15 minutes ebbed and flowed, with the lead exchanging hands several times, but it was Dragons who managed to edge a 63-62 victory.
Coaches Natalie Roddy and Anya Le Monnier were frustrated by the late defeat but pleased with the overall performance and will be looking to build on those positives when Lightning visit the Team Bath Arena on Friday 20th March (6.30pm centre-pass, click to book tickets).
There will be another big crowd cheering on the Blue & Gold with 700 tickets having already been sold. Team Bath are also at home to London Mavericks on Saturday 28th March (3pm) and tickets for both games, priced from £12 to £20, are available at netball.teambath.com/tickets.
