Team Bath Netball players, staff and sponsors celebrate 2023 Super League season with awards night at Rengen House

Jayda Pechova, Sophie Kelly, Ali Wilshier and Betsy Creak were the award winners when Team Bath Netball staged their Super League end-of-season celebrations at Rengen House in Bath on Tuesday.

Pechova, whose impressive first full season in Super League has earned her a place in the Vitality Roses senior programme, was voted as both Players’ and Fans’ Most Valuable Player for 2023.

The defender, who is supported by a Trendell Sports Scholarship as she combines netball with studying Sports Performance at the University of Bath, received 32 per cent of the vote in the online supporters’ poll – thank you to everyone who took part.

Fellow student Sophie Kelly, supported by a Bill Whiteley Scholarship as she studies Management, received the Most Improved Player award after a campaign which saw her make a big impact at goal-attack.

New Zealander Wilshier, who was ranked in the Super League’s top 10 for most feeds with 372, also excelled in her first English domestic season and was named as Coaches’ Most Valuable Player.

Shooter Creak, vice-captain of the Super League squad, was presented with the Spirit of Bath award in recognition of her invaluable contribution to Team Bath both on and off court.

The celebration at Rengen House, a boutique co-working space in the heart of Bath, was attended by players, coaches, support staff and sponsors.

Team Bath’s season isn’t over yet, though, as they have a Fast5 All-Stars Championship title defence coming up on Friday at London’s Copper Box Arena. Click here for further details.
