Team Bath Netball players, coaches and sponsors celebrate 2022 Superleague medal success at end-of-season awards

Team Bath Netball’s players, coaches, support staff and sponsors gathered at the Apex Hotel in Bath on Tuesday to celebrate the 2022 Vitality Superleague campaign with an end-of-season dinner and awards night.

As well as reflect on an eventful league season, which finished on a high with Sunday’s win in the bronze-medal match against London Pulse, it was also a chance to mark some standout achievements by Blue & Gold stars during the year.

England defender Layla Guscoth added to her Vitality Player of the Season honour by being voted by her team-mates as the Team Bath Players’ Player of the Year. Defensive partner Phumza Maweni, who joined Guscoth in the Superleague’s All-Star VII for 2022, won the Coaches’ Player of the Year award.

Nearly 1,700 people cast their vote in the online Fans’ Player of the Season poll, with the award going to Rachel Shaw – a fitting send-off for the crowd favourite who is retiring after nine years in the Blue & Gold.

Fellow wing-attack Kirsty Harris was named as Most Improved Player and defender Lily-May Catling received the Lyn Gunson Endeavour Award, named in honour of the legendary Team Bath coach and presented to someone who has gone the extra mile for the team.

All of the award winners received a custom-made bangle produced by Honey Willow jewellers on Walcot Street, Bath.

Team Bath Netball is supported by its Principal and Pathway Partner, chartered accountants Haines WattsRengen Developments, who are an overall Team Bath Partner; Centurion Chartered Financial Planners and Ecus Ltd, our environment partner.
