Another prize for Sophie Drakeford-Lewis as student-netballer’s commitment is recognised at 2019 TASS Stars Awards

Team Bath Netball star and University of Bath sporting scholar Sophie Drakeford-Lewis was among the winners at the 2019 TASS Stars Awards.

The Integrated Mechanical & Electrical Engineering student, supported by a Bill Whiteley Scholarship, took the Most Committed award, recognising her dedication to both study and sport including excellent time management and balancing demands.

It was collected on her behalf by Team Bath Senior Strength & Conditioning Coach Harri Cizmic at a ceremony in London which also marked the 15th anniversary of the Talented Athlete Scholarship Scheme.

Drakeford-Lewis, who is also a MJ Church Ambassador, has enjoyed an excellent year in the Blue & Gold and was voted as the 2019 Vitality Superleague Young Player of the Season.

She is among more than 30 athletes based at the University of Bath, a TASS Delivery Site since 2004, who receive Dual Career support from the scheme which is backed by The National Lottery and Sport England.

Modern pentathlete Olivia Green, who has just completed the first year of a Sport & Exercise Science degree, was on the three-person shortlist for the Most Potential award.

The awards were presented by Jonathan Edwards, Rachel Latham and University of Bath alumna Shelley Rudman, a skeleton Winter Olympics silver-medallist.
