Blue & Gold star Serena Guthrie to captain England as Roses host Uganda She Cranes in three-match test series

Returning Team Bath Netball star Serena Guthrie will captain England when the Roses play their first home test series since being crowned as Commonwealth Games champions this year.

Eboni Usoro-Brown (nee Beckford-Chambers) and former Blue & Gold players Layla Guscoth, Rachel Dunn and Sasha Corbin are also in Tracey Neville’s 12-strong squad for the three-match Vitality Netball International Series against Uganda She Cranes.

Guthrie, who has rejoined Team Bath for the 2019 Superleague season, said: “I think it’s going to be a really exciting series. Uganda are a really good up-and-coming African team and it’s going to be interesting to have them over for the three-match series.

“I’m excited to play in front of a home crowd as well as it’s been a while since we’ve been in front of our fans, so I’m hoping we’re going to have a big crowd there to support us.

“It’s one series I’ve really been looking forward to and been wanting to be picked for as it’s great to play in front of our home crowd.”

The opening match will take place on November 27 at the Echo Arena in Liverpool before the action moves to the Copper Box Arena in London on November 30 and December 2. Click here to purchase tickets.

A Roses A squad featuring Team Bath’s Summer Artman and Sophie Drakeford-Lewis will also face the Scottish Thistles prior to the Uganda match in Liverpool. Former Blue & Gold shooters Paige Reed and Kadeen Corbin are also in the squad.
