U21 captain Chartie Curtis called up by England after leading Blue & Gold to bronze in NPL competition

Team Bath Netball U21 captain Chartie Curtis has been named in the England U19 squad for this summerโ€™s tour of Australia, two days after guiding the Blue & Gold to bronze medals in the Netball Performance League (NPL).

Curtis, who is in the first year of an Economics degree at the University of Bath, successfully came through trials to secure her place in the squad of 12.

The England U19s will be based at the Australian Institute of Sport and will have the opportunity to test themselves in a number of matches against Australian U19 teams.

Defender Curtis is a training partner of the Blue and Goldโ€™s Vitality Superleague squad and also helped the University of Bath finish runners-up in the national BUCS [British Universities & Colleges Sport] competition.

She captained Team Bath to a third-placed finish in the U21 NPL, the season concluding with a double header at Derby Arena on Saturday.

Team Bath, who lost just twice all season, beat West Country rivals Severn Stars 67-31 before wrapping up their campaign with a 71-35 victory over Team Northumbria.

The Blue & Gold U19s conclude their NPL season with two matches at the University of Birmingham this weekend (April 14), against London Pulse and Yorkshire. They currently sit sixth in the table.
