In-form mid-courter Lucy Button elevated to Team Bath Netball NXT Gen League squad ahead of sell-out season opener

Dynamic defensive mid-courter Lucy Button has been added to the Team Bath Netball squad for the 2025 NXT Gen League season, which starts in early February with a sell-out home fixture against Nottingham Forest.

Button, who plays wing-defence and centre, has been elevated into the U23s following her excellent performances in training with Team Bath’s U21 Player Development Programme and in BUCS competition for the title-winning University of Bath’s performance squads.

The Sports Performance student, who celebrated her 20th birthday earlier this month, is the 18th player to be selected for the NXT Gen squad.

“It was quite a shock when I got the news, I didn’t expect it,” said Button, who has also been excelling in the National Premier League with Team Bath Toucans. “I am really grateful to all the coaches and the girls in the squad have been so supportive too. It’s a privilege to be selected and, as one of the younger players, I am looking forward to learning, developing and growing as an athlete.”

Natalie Roddy, joint Head Coach of Team Bath’s NXT Gen squad with Anya Le Monnier, added: “Lucy thoroughly deserves this opportunity. Our club motto this year is “impossible to ignore” and Lucy has certainly lived up to that with her contribution over the past few months. We look forward to seeing what she and the rest of the squad can achieve in the season ahead.”

Button will aim to be involved in the match-day squad for the opening fixture against Forest on Friday 7th February at the Team Bath Arena. All the tickets have been snapped up for that match and are selling well for the following Friday night fixtures against Cardiff Dragons, on 14th February, and London Pulse, on 21st February.
