Debut delight for Poppy Tydeman as Team Bath Netball duo help Welsh Feathers win inaugural Celtic Cup

Poppy Tydeman made her senior international debut and Ellen Morgan won a Player of the Match award as Team Bath Netball stars helped the Welsh Feathers win the inaugural Celtic Cup.

Defender Tydeman became the 229th player to represent Wales when she came off the bench during an impressive 59-47 victory over host nation Scotland in Sunday’s final.

The Feathers had also beaten Scotland the previous day as they won all three group matches, including a 64-45 success against Northern Ireland inspired by a standout display from Team Bath centre Morgan.

Former Team Bath Super League captain Bethan Dyke won her 75th cap during the tournament in Scotland, which also featured the Zimbabwe Gems.

Both Tydeman and Morgan have been named in the Team Bath squad for the 2025 NXT Gen League season. Natalie Roddy, joint coach of that squad, is also assistant coach of the Welsh Feathers.

Meanwhile, University of Bath sporting scholar and former Team Bath goal-attack Sophie Kelly made her senior England Netball debut as she helped the Roses claim a top-five finish at the FAST5 Netball World Series 2024 in New Zealand.

Management student Kelly, supported by a Bill Whiteley Scholarship, was Player of the Match as England edged out Jamaica 38-36 in the fifth-place play-off. She was joined in the squad by another current sporting scholar, Sports Performance student Jayda Pechova (Trendell Scholarship), and two former scholars, Tash Pavelin and Paige Reed.
