Team Bath’s Eboni Beckford-Chambers and Paige Reed get England Netball call

Team Bath Netball’s Eboni Beckford-Chambers says she is “delighted” to be back in the senior England squad for the forthcoming three-match Vitality Netball International Series against Jamaica.

Blue and Gold team-mate Paige Reed – a University of Bath student and Santander Sports Scholar – has also been named in an U21 Roses squad, coached by Team Bath’s Emily Perry and Denise Ellis, as they continue their build-up to next summer’s Netball World Youth Cup in Botswana.

Defender Beckford-Chambers, who captained Team Bath to a third-placed finish in the 2016 Superleague season, will be in line to win her 75th international cap during the sell-out home Series.

She last played for her country at the start of the year before taking time out to focus on her professional career as a trainee solicitor in dispute management with West Country law firm Mogers Drewett – Team Bath Netball’s education partner.

“It’s always an incredible honour to be selected to represent your country and I am delighted to have been chosen to don the Red Dress again for England Netball against Jamaica in the upcoming test series,” said Beckford-Chambers.

“After making a personal choice to take some time away from the international program during the summer, I am extremely grateful to Team Bath and my law firm Mogers Drewett LLP for all of their continued support leading up to the selection.

“I am really looking forward to playing in each of the three fantastic venues in front of our incredible home crowd in what will be a hotly-contested series!”

Among her opponents for the Sunshine Girls will be future team-mates Vangelee Williams and Shantal Slater, who have joined Team Bath for the 2017 Superleague season.

The three senior matches – being played at London’s Copper Box Arena on November 29, Manchester’s Belle Vue on December 2 and Coventry’s Ricoh Arena on December 4 – will all be preceded by England U21 fixtures against Hertfordshire Mavericks, Scotland and Wasps Netball respectively.

Three former Team Bath players have also been selected for England – Stacey Francis and Serena Guthrie in the senior ranks, and Summer Artman in the U21 squad.
