University of Bath celebrates its 50th anniversary – See our timeline of sport from 1966 to 2017!
Since gaining Royal Charter status in 1966, the University of Bath has enjoyed a special relationship with sport. Our rich history of scholars and successes – both national and international – represents the potential for athletes based at the University and, combined with our academic opportunities, offers students a unique blend of first class sport with first class education.
To commemorate the University’s 50th anniversary, we take a look back at the history of sport at the University, from protests in May 1969 calling for the introduction of sports facilities, to the London Olympics in 2012 when a record number of University of Bath-associated athletes represented their countries on the biggest stage of all.
