Latest athletes of the month announced

Swimmer Jazz Carlin, skier Nick Moynihan, hurdler Dave King and netballer Stacey Francis are the latest winners of the Team Bath Athlete of the Month awards.

The awards, which are supported by REVO Eyewear and Ellis & Killpartrick, once again showcased the impressive array of sporting talent at the University of Bath.

Carlin and Moynihan won the awards for April after both enjoying British Championship successes.

Carlin – coached by Dave McNulty and Graeme Antwhistle at the British Swimming National Centre Bath – won a hat-trick of gold medals at the British Swimming Championships.

She claimed victory in the 200m, 400m and 800m freestyle, setting a new Welsh record of 1:56.88 over the shorter distance.

University of Bath student Moynihan won two gold medals at the Delancey British National Alpine Ski Championships in the Junior Championship slalom and in the giant slalom.

Moynihan, who is studying International Management and Modern Languages, is also a Santander Sports Scholar.

The Athlete of the Month winners for May were King and Francis.

King, who has just graduated in Sports Performance from the University of Bath, produced a dominant victory at the BUCS Outdoor Championships, winning the 110m hurdles title.

He then smashed his personal best at the Loughborough International a week later to set the European U23 Championships qualifying standard. This completed an exceptional couple of months for King, who also won bronze at the British Indoor Championships in February.

Team Bath netballer Francis won her 50th international cap as she helped England reclaim the Netball Europe Open trophy with convincing victories over Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. She also played in the England team that wrapped up a 3-0 series white wash of Trinidad and Tobago.

Each of the winners receives a piece of REVO Eyewear from the Ellis & Killpartrick store in New Bond Street, Bath.

Tyron Dawkins, Brand Manager for REVO, said: “There were some great results from some outstanding individuals, again highlighting the excellence within the Team Bath performance programmes. Congratulations on behalf of REVO Eyewear, Ellis & Killpartrick and Menrad Optics UK”
