Join the fun at Team Bath’s Family Fun Day

An action-packed feast of fun for all the family is on offer at the University of Bath Sports Training Village on Saturday 21 June.

Team Bath’s annual Family Fun Day is an opportunity for people to try out some of the country’s best sports facilities in the country for free.

And this year the fun will also include an appearance by Tractor Ted, a family dance workshop and the opportunity to take part in the annual Olympic Day Run.

Team Bath Family Fun Day activities run from midday through to 4pm on Saturday 21 June. You can try out an array of exciting sporting activities, including having a go on our bobsleigh push-start track, playing badminton or beach volleyball, or taking part in a fencing, hockey, netball, rugby or swimming session run by some of our experienced coaching staff.

You can tackle our gym test challenge in the Team Bath Gym, book a free massage session at our Sports Injury Clinic, or watch a Team Bath netball exhibition match.

You can also celebrate the ideals of the Olympic Movement by taking part in our annual Olympic Day Run over a 5km course, with a 3km run available for under-16s. Once again we have a celebrity starting the run – this year it’s 2012 modern pentathlon world champion and London 2012 Olympian Mhairi Spence.

For our younger guests, Tractor Ted will be making his first appearance at a Team Bath Family Fun Day, and he’ll be bringing along a bouncy castle, pets’ corner and mini diggers.

There will also be a climbing wall and zip wire, a family dance workshop, and much, much more.

Stephen Baddeley, Director of Sport at the University of Bath, said: “The Sports Training Village is well known as a training venue for some of the country’s top athletes, but we’re also fully open to the public and we try to play a very active role in the community.

“Our Family Fun Day gives people the opportunity to see what we have on offer and try out some activities for free.

“We have lots of activities here on Saturday 21 June and we think it’s going to be our biggest and best Family Fun Day yet, so come along and enjoy a great day out.”
