Great Opportunity for the home fans

Team Bath will take on great rivals Surrey Storm in the FIAT netball Superleague play-offs at home on 27 May at 8pm  (pre-match entertainment from 7.15pm) and coach Jess Garland is excited about opportunity offered to the home fans.

“We’ve done our best on court this season and secured a play-off at home by finishing third. We want to carry our momentum from the second half of our last clash with Storm into the play-offs and give the home crowd something to shout about”, said Garland whose side won their last league match at the weekend away against Glasgow Wildcats to secure the third-placed finish.

“There is so much more to come from our players and we have the chance to reverse the score line from last week against Storm”, said Garland.  “It will be great to give the home fans the opportunity to see the 2010-2011 squad in action for the final time and to make it a huge success”.

Honours are even between the two sides this season so far. Whilst Team Bath went down 60-47 at home, they beat Surrey Storm by 57-48 away. And with many current Surrey Storm players, like Tamsin Greenway and Rachel Dunn, having learnt their trade as part of Team Bath’s previous title-winning teams, the contest should be all the more exciting.

Team Bath booked their play-off place by finishing third on the league table and with the best goal average.  A win in the play-offs would see the defending champions play away in either Oldham or Hertfordshire against either Hertfordshire Mavericks or Northern Thunder on 3 June for a place in the final which will be staged on Thursday 9 June.

Event organisers at the University’s Sports Training Vilalge are looking to make the Friday night play-off an experience to remember with audience competitions, free offers and pre-match entertainment. For more information keep in contact with the Team Bath website
